Classical Riding Clinics

Gilfach Equitation now have the "horse-power" to offer riders interested in Classical dressage the chance to experience, learn from, and enjoy riding beautiful Classically trained schoolmasters. Our highly trained horses, that include Alfie, Molly, Floy, Ico, Tesoro and of course, Limonero, will give you insight into the lightness, collection, self-carriage, and engagement of the high-schooled horse.

The Riding

Who are these breaks designed for?

These instructional riding breaks are available for two riders at a time. We may be able to match two single riders for this course - please enquire for details.
Riders will need to be of an advanced standard of riding and be interested in dressage before they come to us.

(Advanced rider - one who has ridden for at least ten years on a regular basis and is capable of riding highly sensitive/schooled horses - if you are not sure of your standard, please ask us for guidance).

What is the schedule?

The courses can last between three and five days. The longer you stay- the more you progress! Participants receive three hours of instruction (private and shared) per day. The instruction includes horsemanship lectures/practicals, lunge lessons, shared ridden lessons and private lessons.

What will you learn?

The instruction will...

  • appreciate the physiological and emotional needs of the horse when under saddle
  • enhance your classical riding position
  • improve your application of riding aids
  • improve your co-ordination and timing of aids
  • improve your ability to ask for collection, extension, self-balance, and obedience to the aids of the horse

Movements you will be tutored on will include...

  • Direct and indirect transitions
  • Rein-back
  • Leg yield
  • Shoulder-in
  • Renvers
  • Travers
  • Half-pass
  • Pirouette
  • Counter-canter
  • Flying changes
  • Passage
  • Piaffe
  • Spanish Walk

What will you leave with?

Participants will leave with a greater knowledge of why, how and when to ask for movements from the horse in order to improve his dressage performance. Additionally, you will hopefully leave with the glow of confidence in your riding ability!

Price

£555 per person for three day course.  Two participants per course.
